Just prior to and during WWII there were five distinct forms of art emerged and or flourished-even benefitted from the war. The art of the Nose (planes), Pin Up, Greeting Cards, PSAs (Public Service Announcements) and Comic Books were embraced by the public, the Military, and the “guys” on the frontline and all of this was done to boost morale and bring the country and countries together. The allies were engaged in a war that was truly about good vs the bad. In terms of unbelieveable attrocities inflicted on many people.

All brought relief from the stress and tension at home and abroad. Stars, actresses, entertainers, models and yes “hometown” gals were participating in photo shoots and posing for artists- all doing their part to boost morale for the “boys’ over yonder. *Andrew Sisters with one of the top songs of that era-Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy — Andrews Sisters (youtube.com)
