Above-Beautiful still from the series with one of my favorites as Kong gives Bobby Bond a ride. These two are very close.

The ’60s had a major explosion when it came to pop culture- everything from music to fashion and of course the cinema and Television. There alaso was a re-newed interest an already iconic movie character-King Kong. Toho served up King Kong vs Godzilla which debuted at the theaters in 1963.

Above- print ad appearing in TV Guide the week of Thanksgiving promoting the Holiday Jubilee line up airing on that Friday.

It’s King Kong as you never seen him before! Saving the world from mad scientists, long lost prehistoric creatures and other assorted dangers as he protects Mondo Island & the Bond family each week right here on ABC every Saturday Morning. Plus, Kong is supported by Tom, agent of T.H.U.M.B. All part of the same program. So, kids get that bowl of cereal ready and enjoy Super Saturday. King Kong takes on the sinister Dr Who live action and in animated adventures. The animated adventures aired on ABC in 1966. This, just as America went color-Television broadcasting that is.

Above- Sometimes Kongs adventures even take him to the bottom of the sea. Here trying to have a conversation with a giant Jellyfish.
