I woke up this morning and was all set to turn on my MTV and to my dismay there was no MTV to be found. Well, at least not the one I remember with Martha Quinn, Mark Goodman and the gang-see below.

Here is one of the videos that started MTV off on that first month when the service debuted-Red Rider — Lunatic Fringe (youtube.com) & Pat Benatar — Love Is A Battlefield (Official Music Video) (youtube.com)

Above- the “cast” of MTV. Our beloved video DJs or VJs from left to-Nina Blackwood, Alan Hunter, Martha Quinn and JJ Jackson. Plus, don’t leave this guy out Mr. Mark Goodman at the top. Photo by E News.

Hi “guys”. Miss you all and the format that made us look and listen to music in a totally different way. I mean who ever thought we would ever do anything but listen to music via a stereo-vinyl, 8-track or cassette or on the radio. Not TV for sure. But back in August of 1981. There only enough videos available to fill about 12 hours. so they just repeat the mix…but hen look where MTV took off to, enough music to fill a day with very little reptation. The world was never the same. Here is a block from 1982…
