It only takes a Split Second!!!! Ask yourself “are you fast enough”…?

It has your DNA, Psychically linked to your every move-It’s all over in a “Split Second”.

SPLIT SECOND(1992) MVD Bluray-Collectors Edition-Rewind Collection Exclusively MVD

He’s seen the future… Now he will have to kill it. He’ll need bigger guns.

The time is the not too distant future(2008)…the water levels of the worlds oceans have risen as global warming is starting to have an impact on coastal & shore based cities around the planet. The UK is one of those leaving London almost a new Venice-thanks to the Thames…And due to the high levels of pollution their is limited daylight. Oh and I forgot rats-lots a rats. This is where we meet our “hero”

Stone(Rutger Hauer-Blade Runner & Ladyhawk))and his partner are on a hunt. One that has taken them to a place where shadows have shadows. The tunnels and sewers beneath London. And not all is as it seems. One moment he’s there, the next he is gone. He only took his eye off him for a split second. He literally disappeared without a trace while investigating a series of murders.

Now we catch with him three years later-

Detective Harley Stones’ day couldn’t be any worse or could it? Now suffering from PTSD after the loss of his partner-already labeled paranoid, High on extreme amounts of coffee, sugar and chocolate. And still on suspension. Guess what? the killer is back-he or she or worst, an it! Well human or not it is leaving bodies torn open, missing a particular vital organ and to top it all off it’s communicating through messages left at each crime scene. But that’s not the half of it, now Stone has a new partner. Stone does not do well with people. Especially when his partner is a Dick-Dick Durkin…

Cast -

Detective Harley Stone — Rutger Hauer. Was the number one choice from the very beginning of this production.

Dick Durbin-Alistair Duncan(The girl With the Dragon Tattoo)

Michelle-Kim Cattrall(Sex in the City/Star Trek-The Undiscovered Country)

Michael J Pollard(Tango and Cash/Bonnie and Clyde)

Screenplay by Gary Scott Thompson(The Fast and The Furious)

Creature Effects/Design -Steve Norrington(Blade)

Score by Stephen “Snips” Parson( The Howling II and Originally starting off in the music industry playing in Beat groups and then migrating to Advertising tracks working with Laura Gregory( Producer of Split Second)and then to Film soundtracks. Has worked for Decca and Island Records. Way more to tell and not enough room here. I recommend the extra on this Bluray featuring and interview with Snips…

Director- BAFTA nominated Tony Maylam(Riddle of the Sands) -known for his documentaries including Genesis in Concert and 1977’s White Rock about the 1976 Winter Olympics and narrated by James Coburn.

I have already screened this twice since receiving my press copy. The Collectors Edition is dripping with bonus material. Audio Commentary with Mike Leeder-Film Historian and filmmaker Arne Venema An interview with with Producer Laura Gregory and actor Alistair Duncan. All together there are 5 all produced by 101 and 441 Films. Plus 2 original behind the scenes featurettes from 1992 with creature designer Steve Norrington and “making of” with cast and crew. And more…So, lots to sink your teeth into.

***Behind the scenes-filmed on location in and around London. Plus access to a key geographic locale-a factory/warehouse facility and area that was able to be blocked and dressed to create the unique dystopian feel and look of the deluged London of the “future” which including flooding the roadways in and around the set. See interview with Laura Gregory …part of the bonus material on this collectors edition.

One more note on Split Second- has been remastered in 4K from the internegative 35MM. Proving just how dedicated to the business as well to restoring and preserving film history MVD is. The owner already had a print available, but was not satisfied and thought we can can do better. Thinking the fans deserve the best possible. What you will witness is a superior quality and the film is deserving of that.

I can not say enough. Other than why not a sequel of what could have a fun franchise with long running inside jargon and humor because this has all that and more. It also has suspense, those “make you jump” scenes and a Blade Runner-dystopian soundtrack. I highly recommend the film and this particular version again on Bluray from MVD. Thanks to all for their work on this project both back in 1992- Rutger and crew. And the team who gave us this amazing work both on the visual and the audio tracks for 2020.

***Remember this***

Additional Taglines-
