A young Dick Clark and American Bandstand- a major influence on the fashion and pop culture for decades ….

Hey kids now your able to run faster and jump higher, all you need is a pair of PF Flyers from Goodrich…and you can get a secret whistle ring…

*** Trivia***Top Ten of the 1950’s — Charting the hit songs including Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis…this is what was happening with the youth of the decade and helping to shape the advertising market…

In honor of summer I wanted to share something with everyone .. . I get this feeling at the start of each and every summer…Especially when I pass by a sneaker display or see a commercial on TV. You see in my neighborhood every time some one got new sneakers we had to have a race to see who was the fastest and especially since those PF Flyer commercials told us that anyone that their sneakers could run faster and jump higher than the average kid … so needless to say we had several races and a jumping contest as soon as school was out for that wonderful but always too short a break before school would resume in the fall..my problem is where I live now I’m the youngest at 58 and most everyone else is 60 plus … I might just have to settle for a fast game of checkers or hustle down to LA Fitness… anyways one can always hope ..kinda of like how licks does it take to get to the middle of Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop ..the world may never know…

***Trivia Break***

Music of the ‘60s-below reflects kinda how we felt when we had our new sneakers on…

…or was it feet don’t fail me now?

These were the days when companies really knew how to market their products and do it in a very clever way- I mean who could forget that secret whistle ring along with the tie in advertising and promotions for the likes of Mickey Mouse Club.. Flipper…

kids programming and products from toy’s to coloring books to games and yes clothing lines including shoes — Buster Brown Shoes- How did Tige ever fit in their with Buster must have been one of those Tardis things…? and sneakers ..in fact some of these companies are still around today including PF Flyers..on that note I’m going to get my pair for the summer — hey I don’t want to be left out and darn it I’m going to win that race one of these days …so for now Doc has left the building..till next time ..
