Goldfinger is the film that not only affirmed 007 as big box-office but set in motion the James Bond phenomenon. People flocked to the theaters in droves to see this action-adventure spy flick. Crowds lining up hours before a show…presales were imperative to handle the flux of theater goers. And the stars themselves were mobbed at premieres the world over. And only one other in the series was met with such fanfare and that was Thunderball but that is another story.

Goldfinger also set the standard for the rest of the films in the series to follow. starting with the pre action title sequences. From this point on every forthcoming Bond film had one of these mini adventures that usually was a wrap up from a previous mission.

The film opens with a pre-title sequence with James Bond aka 007 (Sean Connery) in scuba gear…
