What do you get when you cross a haunted house mystery with zombies, ghosts, a lost treasure and Bob Hope? You get a classic horror comedy. Throw in a fog shrouded family castle on an island in Cuba circa 1940 plus a couple of murders…. and you're still saying to yourself where does Bob Hope fit into to all this. The trailer- The Ghost Breakers (1940) trailer — YouTube

Above- How did we go from this to the zombie featured in the image above-. Well let’s turn back the pages to a few hours before this.

The Ghost Breakers- the film….

Lawrence Lawrence (Bob Hope) hosts a crime show on the radio where he discusses organized crime as he gives the scoop from various sources all the while entertaining the boys (mob) as long as he doesn’t get too pacific. You see they like to hear about themselves on the radio. Makes them feel like celebrities. In “reel” life our hero. Is assisted by his valet Alex played by Willie Best- an actor that Bob Hope felt was one of the funniest comedic actors. ****Oh, I didn’t tell you. Bob plays a reluctant hero in this.

Above- Larry and Alex trying to illuminate a very dark situation- no lights do an electrical storm including the city itself. (New York)
