Celebrating an amazing 65 years in the public eye and their brains…brains brains…. oh, sorry I digressed there for a moment. A lot like the writing style that appeared in the magazine.

Famous Monsters 1958–1983: original run….

Above- art based on The Werewolf of London starring Henry Hull.

Thanks to publisher James Warren and a youngish editor named Forrest J Ackerman-definitely young in spirit. We the public had no idea what was happening back in the late ’50s. Parents probably thought of its just like the comics the kids were reading. The kids knew. And later in the ’60s I discovered this glorious magazine full of “filmland” monsters.

Articles galore on the films and shows both classic and contemporary. Columns that addressed readers and fans questions plus You Axed for It. which usually was a particular scene for a film or TV series. A hard-to-find subject. Some young and up and coming wirters works appeared including Stephen King — who wrote and awesome take on the werewolf story line. I read and loved and let’s just say that it involved a legendary character form the west who carried silver bullets.
