  • Dave Grusin(The Goonies, On Golden Pond, The Yakuza) is the co-founder of GRP Records label and has composed and produced numerous LP’s and soundtracks over a span of 50 years plus and is still active within the music industry.

One of my favorite Television themes and shows…

Another Dave Grusin scored piece of pop culture…

  • During the ’70s Grusin became almost a household word or at least the series he scored and worked on including Baretta(Robert Blake), Good Times(the Maude spin-off starring Jimmie JJ Walker), Name of the Game and St Elsewhere(William Daniels & Mark Harmon).
  • Many of his soundtracks/works have been released on vinyl/cd especially by Varese Sarabande(early 1978 — present) and these releases have been carefully selected and with the utmost care being given to the actually recording and production. Special colored vinyl releases have been released in limited editions and sometimes are exclusive to certain media outlets including Barnes and Noble and Record Store Day. ***
  • Black Friday Release November 27th of the Complete Soundtrack on picture disc of modern classic The Goonies featuring the return of One Eyed Willy pictured on the disc….

More on Varese -

Cary Mansfield and Bryon Davis have been an incredible force in regards to making these releases a reality. Both have either produced or been executive producers on many of the releases from Varese. A lot of work goes in to these productions both pre and post and in between. Sometimes it can a few years on a title. So a big thank you to Cary, Bryon and Varese Sarabande on behalf of the fans.

Recently released -Music By Dave Grusin includes- Absence of Malice, And Justice for All and Murder By Death

Out now- The Goonies CD complete score ( a vinyl is available now)

**the part 2 Goonies R Enough music video featuring Roddy Rowdy Piper and Andre The Giant (song does not appear on the Dave Grusin score soundtrack release) This was for your listening pleasure only…

Other non Grusin works available now or coming soon include

Krypton the series CD — (brilliant scoring got me hooked on the show), John Wick 3 CD bundle, Shaft( Deluxe Edition 2 CD , Bad News Bears colored vinyl, Fletch(Harold Faltermeyer & various artist)) and Zombies(the rock group) Green Vinyl

For your trippin pleasure…this exotic mind freak is available on a double sided picture disc… but grab it fast ..

**I love my colored vinyls in my collection especially the Mad Max(Gray, Black and Sand), Newbury Comics Exclusive The Star Wars Trilogy -Lightsaber Blue, Red and Green Vinyl, The Goonies — Sand Gold (most fun and imaginative) and the original pressing of Making The Grade (Basil Poledouris & songs by Shandi) * which I am listening to right now as we “speak”.

*”preppies come often”

  • ** side note the vinyls of today are a thicker press more grams-some are 600, some are 1080 grade. It’s like high definition with audio, which creates or produces a better sound then ever before. There is also that hard to describe experience when listening to an LP. Many critics say you are able to hear more of the instrumentation on a recording..a LP/vinyl, which I agree with. And of course that nostalgic crackle.. bringing back something good from the “old” days…the “good ol” days.

The Goonies 4K Plus Digital-

Released just a month ago, this modern classic has everything including a score by the multi-talented Dave Grusin. His works too numerous to list here aside from some examples like

The film it self captures the essence of childhood, both the wonder and the “nightmares” of possibly having to move away from a place that up to now has been the only constant in your life, a place where all your friends are, the family and where you most likely thought you would be spending the rest teens attending school. Exploring those high school crushes that have yet to happen.

Now add in an escaped convict, his loving Ma, quirky brother, a high speed car chase, fire and explosions. And that’s just in the first 10 minutes. Mix in a eminent domain story line - being forced to sell our home to a bunch greedy developers and a lost treasure a famous one eyed pirate. Creepy caves an octopus and Sloth- a super strong, candy munching giant who loves Superman.

Special note- some releases are exclusive to their website- click link to explore..
